Ambassador and Plentipotiary bids farewell
Berlin, Wednesday, 31st March 2010

Fellow Liberians, Colleagues, Friends of Liberia,

Today, March 31st, marks the end of my service to the Liberian Government and People as Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Austria, Finland, the Kingdom of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna.

How exciting these past three years have been!  In early 2007, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s nominated your humble servant as her Ambassador, and with the consent of the Liberian Senate was confirmed in April of the same year. I embarked on a journey across central and northern Europe, from Berlin to Helsinki with the objective of enhancing relations between Liberia and the countries of my accreditation, all major partners in the reconstruction of Liberia.

My main responsibilities consisted of helping our Government to restore the image of Liberia abroad and ensuring that Liberians in these countries received attention and service from our Embassy.  My staff and I have endeavored to fulfill these obligations, despite all odds, and it is with a sense of humility in having completed most of what we set out to achieve, that I say good bye to you.  I thank the Almighty God that we have stayed the course, and thank all of you for helping us to bring Liberians in Europe together, and to promote Liberia in Europe.  Together, let us all Lift Liberia to a noble destiny!

With my best personal regards,

Sincerely,

Sedia Massaquoi-Bangoura
