(1). Must I apply in person?
Yes.
(2). How long will it take to get the passport
It will take about 7-14 working days.
(3). What will I need to take with me?
Bring the following with you: Proof of Liberian Citizenship, including a copy of your birth certificate or naturalization certificate. If married female, provide a copy of marriage certificate for change or addition of name. If name changed, provide copy of court decree.
(4). What is the validity of the Passport?
The ordinary passport will be valid for 5 years, while the diplomatic and official passports will be issued for two years. Service passport shall be issued for one or two years, depending on the mission for which they are assigned.
(5). How much does a passport cost?
The new Liberian passport will cost USD50.00each.
(6). Where do I go to apply if I am NOT in Liberia?
There will be data collection points set up at designated embassies for processing passports. Note, applicants abroad may continue to use their current passport until the Data Collection points are set up.
1. New York and Washington: week of November 16, 2009.
2. Ghana: last week of November 2009.
3. London and Paris: mid December 2009.
(7). How long can I use my current passport?
The current passport is valid until April 2010
(8). Can I renew my passport if it expires?
No. You will need to complete a new application form. A new passport will be issued at the same price of USD 50.00 instead of a renewal stamp.
(9). When should I apply for my passport?
Months before your departure. It’s not a bad idea to apply months in advance. Some countries don’t like freshly issued passports. And it’s not a good idea to have a passport that expires soon after your trip. It should be good for about six months after your return.
